“Let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.” ( Matt 5:16) Through our gifting partnerships we bring light into darkness in another’s life. A gift that we can offer is our financial resources. We have a number of programs throughout the year that allow us to provide funding through the ELCA, the Synod or in partnership with other organizations who care for God’s family. “Whoever is generous to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will repay him for his deed.” ( Proverbs 19:17).
We are looking for small teams of 1-2 people to manage these programs.
These funds are gathered on Mother’s Day each year. The funds are sent to Church World Service to help pay shipping costs and other expenses related to providing blankets and quilts to those in need around the world. Estimated time: 1 hour per month. Estimated time 6 hours total Late April-End May
On Father’s Day we gather funds in support of our local Habitat for Humanity program. Habitat is well-known for helping those in need find new homes through low cost pricing, volunteer labor and the owner’s own sweat equity in their home and others. Estimated time: 6 hours total in Late May-Mid June
Gift of Love
In February of each year we collect funds for our pastor’s discretionary fund. These funds provide assistance to those in our congregation, or outside who need a little help. Estimated time: 10 hours total in Mid January-End February
Each Christmas this team reminds us of how blessed we are as a congregation, and how we can be a blessing to others by giving an alternative gift. The funds are sent to the ELCA and a card is sent to your recipient. These gifts allow another brother, sister or family in God’s World to have a blessing for one day in the year and to know others care about them. Estimated time: 8 hours total in November-December
Disaster Relief Appeals (ELCA)
These appeals are for a wide range of disasters that occur globally. They are event specific. They could include tsunami, floods, malaria or other disease, earthquakes and similar natural or other disasters. The appeals are generally from the ELCA. As an ELCA member congregation we respond to the needs of our brothers and sisters in Christ around the world. These arise as needed. Each event takes 5-8 hours to coordinate.
